Michigan State University offers dental insurance through Delta Dental of Michigan. The dental insurance plan is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan that offers graduate assistants an affordable, quality dental plan.

Coverage and Enrollment Dates:
2018-19 Plan Year
Open Enrollment: July 1, 2018 through October 31, 2018
Coverage Effective: September 1, 2018 through August 31, 2019
2017-18 Plan Year
Open Enrollment: July 1, 2017 through October 31, 2017
Coverage Effective: September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018
Open Enrollment: November 1, 2017 through February 28, 2018
Coverage Effective: January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018
MSU Graduate Assistant Dental Plan
- Graduate assistants with 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 appointments (eligible for tuition waiver)
- Michigan State University pays 50 percent of the dental plan premiums for eligible MSU Graduate Assistants with active appointments.
Please note there is a difference between being a graduate student and a graduate assistant. If you are a graduate student without a paid appointment as a graduate assistant, you do not qualify for the Graduate Assistant Dental Plan, but can enroll in the student dental plan.
Eligible dependents of graduate assistants enrolled in the plan:
- Spouse/Other Eligible Individual (OEI)
Note: Dependent children must be under age 26.
