important I-9 Reminders
Effective April 26, MAUs no longer need to provide the employee with the employer code to complete Section 1 of the I-9. You will need to provide them:
- Date of Hire (DOH)
- Location/Department Code
- Link to the HR website
- Deadline to complete Section 1 (no later than DOH)
USCIS released a revised version of the I-9 on July 17. You can use the new version or continue using the I-9 from 11/14/16 through September 17. On September 18, you must use the revised form from 7/17/17. Changes to the form included the change of name from the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices to Immigrant and Employee Rights Section and combining all the certifications of report of birth issued by the Department of State (FS-545, DS-1350 and FS-240) into selection C#2 in List C.
