How to Find Educational Assistance Balance in EBS

As a regular support staff employee, part of your benefit includes the Educational Assistance program. This program provides financial assistance for credit or non-credit, job-related courses, including courses provided by Organization and Professional Development and IT Services. MSU employees receive access to this benefit after 12 full-time service months of employment. Before applying or registering for a course, find out how much money is available for the current academic year to be certain you have the funds to cover costs before registering.

How to Find Your Educational Assistance balance:

  1. Login to EBS using your NetID and password.
  2. Click on My Career & Training
  3. Click on the Educational Assistance System tile. A new window will open up.
  4. In the top navigation under My Account, select EdAssist Balance.
  5. This will tell you what has been used, encumbered and available for both credit and non-credit courses.

How to Sign Up for a Professional Development Course
After you figure out your balance, check out the current courses offered by Organization and Professional Development or IT Services.

  1. Login to EBS  using your NetID and password.
  2. Click on My Career & Training
  3. Click on the Courses for Employees at MSU tile
  4. Click on Browse Current Courses, then on Organization and Professional Development or IT Services.
  5. Click on a folder of interest, then on the course of interest.
  6. Click on preferred course date.
  7. Click Request Participation, then OK to confirm.
  8. Select Method of Payment from Payment Options. Note: A department account number must be entered for all course bookings. If the course is free, it is not necessary to select a method of payment.
  9. Click OK.
