Courses for MSU Employees Upgrade

MSU HR continues to make improvements by providing innovative services for MSU employees and supervisors. Currently, employees search for and book professional development and IT courses through the Courses for MSU Employees system in the EBS Portal. Upgrades to this system will be live on November 20.

Enhancements include a refreshed look, easier course searching and booking, and course booking status, as well as:

  • Increased browser support for Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox on a PC and Safari on a MAC.
  • Integration with Outlook Calendar.
  • Wish List – This new feature will allow employees to add a course to their Wish List to be notified once it becomes available.
  • Booking/Cancellation Deadline – There will be a cutoff of 48 hours from the start of a course to book or cancel it.

Approvals in the system will also be improved. Once an employee books a course, his or her supervisor will receive an approval notification email to approve the request. They will need to take action in 14 days from when the request was made, or 48 hours from the course start date, whichever comes first. If action is not taken, the system will automatically cancel the employee’s booking. This workflow is similar to how the Educational Assistance approval system currently works today.

Changes will be live on Monday, November 20 and will make searching for and booking courses easier, as well as be an improved tool to help during the performance planning process. Instructions on how to book a course in the upgraded system are located on the MSU HR website. Users can reference a how-to video or instructional guide.
