Changes in Designating your beneficiary

Are you currently enrolled in MSU’s life or AD&D insurance coverage with Prudential? If you are, you need to be aware of a coming change to how you designate your beneficiary(ies). Starting on  Jan. 1, 2019, Prudential Insurance Company of America will begin administering the life insurance beneficiary designation process. If you want to enter or update your beneficiary information for life insurance, you will need to complete this through the Prudential website beginning on Jan. 1, 2019:  Login to the Prudential website starting January 1, 2019 here .

What if I designated my beneficiary(ies) previously through the EBS Portal?
You will need to re-designate your beneficiary(ies) through the Prudential website beginning on Jan. 1, 2019. It’s always a good idea to review your beneficiary information from time-to-time. This change is meant to make a more seamless process from enrollment to connecting with your loved ones over the life claim if something were to ever happen.

Does this change apply to other beneficiary designations?
No. For benefits such as retirement or critical illness, you would need to update your beneficiary designations directly through that specific vendor’s website.

You will receive a letter directly from Prudential later this month with details on how to designate your beneficiary(ies) on the Prudential website. If you have any questions about this change in the meantime, please contact the HR Solutions Center at  SolutionsCenter@hr.msu.edu  or 517-353-4434.
