Meet The Compliance Team

The Compliance Team, based within HR’s Solutions Center, consists of six HR professionals: the Compliance Manager, three HR Generalists, a Senior HR Professional, and an HR Professional. We oversee key employment functions, including eligibility verification, background screening, E‑Verify, records management, and personal information updates.

We partner with various youth programs to process and assess volunteer criminal background checks. Our team also filters requests for personnel file content and responds to informational inquiries such as subpoenas, employment verifications, and FOIA requests. This work ensures that MSU remains compliant with federal, state, and institutional requirements while fostering a safe and secure workplace.

Additionally, the HR Compliance Team manages conflicts of interest in employment processes, maintains required employment law postings, hosts trainings throughout the year, and serves as a CUPA‑HR I‑9 Reciprocal Processing Consortium member. Our team collaborates closely with key campus partners, including the Office of General Counsel, the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS), the Office of Civil Rights, and others.

Beyond daily operations, we provide consultation and guidance to units navigating evolving regulations that impact the pre‑onboarding of future MSU employees. Whether questions relate to work authorization, background check requirements, or system access, our team is here to support units in meeting compliance obligations with clarity and confidence.
