Joint Health Care Committee
The JHCC’s purpose is to meet monthly during the term of the MSU/Coalition Health Care Agreement to continue collaboratively analyzing the healthcare challenge from a variety of perspectives, explore potential solutions and continuously share information with the University community along the way. The committee focuses on analyzing the problems related to health care, exploring creative solutions and areas of focus for potential implementation of changes in the health care benefit that will improve quality, cost and access. The committee is charged with the responsibility of analyzing and communicating about the health care challenge in a way that is inclusive, transparent, positive and designed to engage staff in an ongoing two-way dialogue about the problem and potential solutions. Intended outcomes of this approach are:
- Help unionized staff of the University to understand the challenge and to commit to developing successful solutions together.
- Expose unionized staff of the University community to a regular flow of information on our progress analyzing the problem.
- Give unionized staff of the University community regular opportunities and vehicles to react to information and contribute their ideas for consideration.
- Engage other University “influencer” groups in helping the general University population understand and respond to the challenge.
- Generate ideas, information and recommendations on ways MSU could potentially address rising healthcare costs and better support employee health.
