Pandemic situations and the MSU workforce

The purpose of this Web site is to give MSU faculty and staff a single place to look for updates related to working at MSU during a Pandemic situation. During a pandemic, all faculty and staff would be encouraged to check this site for updates daily before reporting for work.

If at some point there is a need to minimize the number of faculty and staff on campus due to Pandemic-related reasons, individual Departments will determine which positions within their department are deemed critical and need to be staffed throughout the pandemic to ensure the continuing safety of MSU people, animals, research and structures.

This site would give instructions as to whether all employees should report to work as scheduled or if only employees in critical positions should report to work. A list of all MSU Department phone numbers is being developed and will also soon be available on this site.

In the most active phase of a pandemic where there may be daily updates to instructions for reporting for work, a general call-in phone number will also be made available which employees can call and hear a pre-recorded message giving the same daily update information that will be available on this Web site. All status updates will appear below in the order of most recent to least recent:

Work Status as of August 24, 2009

There are no new Pandemic related actions to share that would alter typical working operations or conditions at Michigan State University at this time.
