Support Staff Policy & Procedure for Leave of Absence with Pay
Policy
Applies to: University support staff
- The University grants eligible employees leave of absence with pay in accordance with provisions as stated here and in individual policy statements and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- The types of leave of absence with pay are:
- bereavement days,
- holidays,
- jury duty,
- military duty (short-term),
- personal leave days,
- sickness and disability (including extended disability leave), and
- vacations.
Conditions of leave with pay:
- While on leave of absence with pay, the employee retains all previously earned benefits, and will continue to accrue vacation and sickness and disability leave credits.
- While on leave of absence with pay, the employee retains return rights to his/her position.
- Compensation will be at the employee's base rate of pay.
- University benefit contributions for health, dental, retirement, Long-Term Disability and Expanded Life (for 180 days) plans will continue during leave of absence with pay. Other optional benefits may be continued with employee contributions.
