On-Call and Temporary Title List

The following titles are provided for MSU temporary and on-call support staff. Titles designated with a "*" can be Project Pay and allow lump sum payments, including per diem payments and project pay.


TITLE: AMERICORPS AIDE
CODE: 2655

Provides assistance and support for education, health and human needs, the environment and/or public safety as part of the National AmeriCorps volunteer program.


TITLE: CAMP/CONFERENCE AIDE*
CODE: 1653

Performs a variety of duties in support of summer camps and conferences, such as responding to participant concerns, questions and emergencies; maintaining/monitoring camp rules, checking in/out of participants, attending meetings. May involve overnight supervision of participants.


TITLE: CLERICAL AIDE
CODE: 2651

Provides clerical support. Responsibilities may include secretarial, receptionist, bookkeeping, information processing, or related clerical tasks. Temporary assignments to this classification normally last for 120 days or less with an additional 60 day extension (requires notification to the CTU). On-call assignments are not subject to the 120 day limitation.


TITLE: COACHING AIDE*
CODE: 1917
(Up to $500/week)

Assists in the planning, instruction (coaching), promotion and administration of a sport, game, or athletic program; assists with conditioning of players, skill development, and play techniques.


TITLE: CONSULTANT*
CODE: 2654

Provides a wide variety of consulting services including conference, seminar or workshop design/presentation; operations review and analysis; project design, completion, coordination or management; or related consulting services. Consultants paid on grant funds must be paid on an hourly or daily basis. For consultants paid on non-grant funds, “project pay” may not exceed $2,500 per project. Projects that exceed $2,500 must be paid on an hourly or daily basis.


TITLE: EVENTS WORKER*
CODE: 3175
(Up to $50 per event)

Provides support for concerts, sporting events, outdoor functions and related University special events. Duties may include working at an assigned station in a concession stand; preparing and dispensing refreshments; transporting, maintaining and arranging supplies, equipment and materials; operating a cash drawer; assisting with parking enforcement; acting as an event usher; and similar event related responsibilities.


TITLE: EXTENSION PROGRAM WORKER
CODE: 3195

Targeted participants in the Cooperative Extension Service Agriculture Marketing Program learn about the CES.


TITLE: GOLF COURSE ATTENDANT
CODE: 3514

Provides support with golf course operations such as starter, ranger, driving range attendant, care of golf equipment, enforcing golf course regulations.


TITLE: LABOR AIDE/OFF-CAMPUS
CODE: 2647

Provides food service, custodial, general labor or maintenance support for departments located off-campus (outside of the Greater Lansing area).


TITLE: MODEL
CODE: 5185

Pose as a subject for paintings, sculptures and other types of art forms; nude modeling.


TITLE: ON-CALL MINOR
CODE: 8951

Provides general support to a department or unit. Incumbents in this classification must be a minor and meet all legal requirements for employment, including restrictions on the type of work to be performed, limits on hours worked, and possession of appropriate documentation. Employees in this classification are limited to no more than 1,039 work hours annually.


TITLE: ON-CALL SERVICE/MAINTENANCE
CODE: 2659

Provides food service, custodial, grounds maintenance, general labor, or other main support on an on-call basis. Employees in this classification are limited to no more than 1,039 working hours annually.


TITLE: PROFESSIONAL AIDE
CODE: 2650

Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions.


TITLE: SIMULATED HEALTH CARE PROVIDER
CODE: 9064

Participates in assessment events in the role of a health care provider; completes checklists of trainee behavior; may make judgments about trainee behavior and provide feedback.


TITLE: SIMULATED PATIENT
CODE: 6815

Functions as a mock patient, responding verbally in a medical interview situation to questions directed by student physicians; provides constructive feedback regarding the students' interviewing techniques; may also be required to disrobe, responding physically and verbally to an examination of the body.


TITLE: SIMULATED PATIENT TRAINER
CODE 6816

Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, and develops case scenarios for simulated patients.


TITLE: STAGE HAND
CODE 6894

Provides assistance during non-academic theater and stage presentations as a carpenter, property person, electrician, moving picture machine operator, grip, lamp operator, rigger, and/or related theater and stage functions. Incumbents in this title are recognized as members of IATSE MPMO Local 274 and are to be paid according to the bargained for wage schedule.


TITLE: TECHNICAL AIDE
CODE: 2652

Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions. Temporary assignments to this classification normally last for 120 days or less with an additional 60 day extension (requires notification to the CTU). On-call assignments are not subject to the 120 day limitation.


TITLE: TEMPORARY KELLOGG CENTER/SERVER
CODE: 2646

Greets guests. Takes and serves food and beverage orders. Sets-up banquet rooms, meeting rooms, and restaurant areas for service. Buses tables. Shuttle guests to airport or on-campus locations as needed.


TITLE: TEMPORARY KELLOGG CENTER WORKER
CODE 2645

Provides food service, housekeeping, banquet set-up, and custodial services for Kellogg Center. Assists guests with luggage and/or conference materials.


TITLE: TRADES AIDE
CODE: 2657

Provides support in one or more skilled trades areas such as a bindery machine operator, carpenter, electrician, glazier, instrument maker, locksmith, mason, mechanic, machinist, painter, pipefitter, plasterer, plumber, printing press operator, roofer, trades helper, upholsterer, welder, etc.

NOTE: Classified titles may be used where needed to track on-call/temporary staff with licensure/certification requirements.
