Where do I get/submit my application?

 

Support Staff:  Obtain a Course Fee Courtesy Application online or from Human Resource Development.  Once the application has been completed, return it to:  Human Resource Development, Suite 10 Nisbet Building, 1407 S. Harrison Road, East Lansing MI 48823-5442. Fax: (517) 432-2979.  For additional information, please contact HRD at (517) 884-0177.

 

Faculty and Academic Staff:  Obtain a Course Fee Courtesy Application online or from Academic Human Resources.  Return the completed application to: Academic Human Resources, Michigan State University, 432 Administration Building, East Lansing, MI  48824.

 

Do I need to complete an application every year?

 

One application needs to be completed for each student's entire undergraduate degree (up to 120 credits attempted) unless the student leaves the university and readmission, as a student is required.  The student may skip the Summer Semester, however, if he or she does not attend during the Fall or Spring, a new application is required.

 

When should I submit my application?

 

Applications should be submitted to the appropriate office in accordance with the following deadlines:

 

Fall Semester:  June 1

Spring Semester:  October 1

Summer Semester:  March 1 

 

 

I am a support staff employee; can I use the CFC program for my education?

 

The Course Fee Courtesy (CFC) program is available to your dependents, which includes your children, your spouse or MSU recognized same-sex domestic partner, and their children for their first Bachelor's degree (up to 120 credits attempted).  Support staff may use the Educational Assistance program for their educational needs.  For more information and eligibility requirements see the Educational Assistance program or contact HRD at (517) 884-0177.

 

Can I use the CFC Program for undergraduate and graduate degrees?

 

The Course Fee Courtesy program is available for the first Bachelor’s degree up to a maximum of 120 credits attempted.

 

My dependent attends another university; is he or she eligible for the CFC program?

 

CFC offers a tuition reduction at Michigan State University only and is not applicable for any other institution.

 

I am an employee of MSU, when will my dependents become eligible for CFC program?

 

Support staff:

 

All regular, non-academic, full-time employees of the university including Administrative Professionals with flexible appointments and “official retirees,” are eligible for this program after completion of 60 continuous full-time equivalent (FTE) service months. Employees who have met the eligibility requirements prior to the second week of a semester are considered eligible for the entire semester.

 

Faculty and Academic staff:

 

Tenure system faculty, librarians in the continuous appointment system, specialist in the job security system, individuals appointed in the Cooperative Extension Service continuing employment system, individuals appointed in executive management positions and other continuing positions (appointed without end dates) in the Academic Personnel System, and those who have access to the program by virtue of a labor contract are eligible immediately. I am a retiree; are my dependents eligible for the CFC program?

 

Official retirees of the university, who were eligible at the time of their retirement, retain their eligibility during retirement.
