Human Resource Development offers a number of programs that address competencies essential for success in various formal and informal leadership roles within the organization.

Foundations of Effective Leadership: Succeeding at Supervision

Fundamental skills and knowledge for those who have front-line responsibility for managing the work of others. Series content is applicable for new and experienced supervisors, as well as individuals aspiring to supervision. Eleven sessions are held over the course of a semester. more

 

Leadership from the Inside: The Team and Group Leader Challenge

 

Essential skills and knowledge for employees who lead groups of peers outside of the formal supervisory role. This series is presented in six half-day sessions. more

 

Leading Edge: An Advanced Certificate Series for Supervisors 

 

An advanced certificate series for graduates of Foundations of Effective Leadership who want to build on skills and knowledge acquired in the Foundations program. Six topics are covered in sessions held monthly. more

 

M.E.N.T.O.R.S. -- Mentoring Enhances Networking, Teaching, Organizational Renewal, and Success

 

M.E.N.T.O.R.S. features centrally-supported mentoring. The process can ease and speed the transition of new employees, or serve as a means of career development and job enhancement for experienced employees. more

 

MSU Executive Leadership Academy

 

The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) seeks to enhance the leadership skills of University leaders from the academic and support areas. The ELA Fellowship experience includes a weeklong, offsite, feedback-intensive experience followed by participation in individual coaching, monthly cohort discussions, and seminars on selected leadership competencies. more
