Student Employee Documentation
Students who work must provide evidence of their identity and work authorization to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
The Internal Revenue Service requires that the University verify the Social Security number of employees.
To help students comply with federal regulations, students can apply for a duplicate card through the Social Security Administration web site. Individuals must apply in person at the Social Security Office if:
- they have never had a Social Security card before, or
- they are aliens whose immigration documents should not be mailed, or
- they have a name change, or
- they do not have a copy of their Social Security card
