MSU Student Employment maintains confidential files on each student who is/has been employed on campus. Files are maintained for three years after the student leaves the university.
Staff and Faculty of Michigan State University shall have access, on a need-to-know basis, to any information in a student's file at MSU Student Employment after presenting proper identification. Students may view items in their own file upon display of identification and signing a release form. All information should be kept confidential. Students should allow 24 hours for the request to be processed. Off-campus employers or other agencies shall have access to those items which are considered "Directory Information" per University policy. All other information pertaining to a student's employment, will be released only if the student has granted the inquiring party prior written permission.
