6.1 Final Approval of Academic Actions

Actions approved by the Board of Trustees

1. Appointment of tenure system faculty with tenure
2. Appointments of deans, head coaches of football, men's basketball and men's hockey and certain executive management staff
3. Promotion of tenure system faculty with award of tenure
4. Reappointment of tenure system faculty with award of tenure
5. Extension of contract for head coaches of football, men's basketball and men's hockey

1. Appointment of tenure system faculty without tenure
2. Appointment of librarians with award of continuing employment
3. Appointment of certain executive management staff
4. Promotion of tenure system faculty without the award of tenure
5. Promotion of librarians with the award of continuing employment
6. Reappointment of tenure system faculty without award of tenure
7. Reappointment of librarians with or without the award of continuing employment
8. Change of Status without an end date for tenure system faculty
9. Change of Status without an end date for deans and executive management
10. Change of Status for Head Coaches of football, men's basketball and men's hockey
11. Emeritus designation of executive management and other appointees whose administrative appointment requires approval by the Board

1. All actions for certain executive management staff

1. Appointment of librarians in the continuing system without award of continuing employment
2. Appointment of specialists, MSU Extension staff, NSCL staff, and those with no rank, in a continuing system, with or without the award of continuing employment
3. Promotion of librarians without the award of continuing employment
4. Changes of Status without an end date for those in continuing systems except tenure system faculty, and executive management staff
5. Leaves of Absence for those in continuing systems
6. Terminations/Cancellations of appointments in continuing systems and for executive management staff and head coaches

1. Appointment of fixed term faculty and academic staff, excluding executive management and head coaches
2. Promotion of NSCL Staff with or without the award of continuing employment
3. Reappointment of specialists, MSU Extension, and NSCL staff with or without the award of continuing employment
4. Change of Status with an end date, excluding those for head coaches
5. Change of Status to change terminal leave/retirement date(s)
6. Leaves of Absence for those on fixed term appointments, excluding executive management
7. Terminations/Cancellations of fixed term appointments, excluding head coaches
