This document describes the Health Programs Faculty Appointment System, an academic personnel system which has been designed as an applicable appointment system for appropriate clinician faculty members of the Medical and Nursing Colleges of the University.
Information in this document has been derived from a variety of documents including the MSU Faculty Handbook, Bylaws for Academic Governance, summary of MSU Benefits Programs, Affirmative Action Guidelines and other University, College and unit documents. Included in the document are: a definition of the appointment system, an explication of the roles of Health Programs Faculty (subsequently referred to throughout this document as HP faculty), the criteria for appointing HP faculty members, a description of the hiring process for the system, pertinent information concerning initial and additional appointments, promotion, and benefit structures for Health Programs Faculty and a description of the Medical Services Plan and College of Nursing Practice Plan.
